The Postcard Killings
2020
The Postcard Killings is a 2020 American crime film directed by Danis Tanović, and based on the 2010 novel The Postcard Killers by James Patterson and Liza Marklund. Jacob Kanon is a New York-based detective played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan who embarks on a journey across Europe to find out who is responsible for the murder of his daughter and her husband. He recruits the help of an American journalist living in Scandinavia when other couples throughout Europe suffer a similar fate. The murderers in this film were both adopted as babies to the one couple. When their adoptive mother dies, the boy is sent into foster care and the daughter, who is older by 3 years, continues on in boarding school. As the characters explain it, the murders are an expression of rage and revenge against their adoptive father. *Spoiler Alert* The cliched ending of this film uses the theme of adoption.
