The Sword Catcher tells the story of Kel. Kel is an orphan stolen from the orphanage he is living in to be the body-double of heir to the throne, Prince Conor Aurelian.

Kel and Conor grow up together and become close friends. Except that Kel lives with the knowledge that his role is to die for Conor.
