Stolen (2011)

2011

Stolen (2011) is a film about the serious global problem of child trafficking. The film, written by Stephen Butchard, focuses on 3 children in the UK who have been trafficked from the Ukraine, Vietnam, and West Africa. They are set to work in making sandwiches, growing cannabis and doing housework. Damien Lewis stars as DI Anthony Carter who works in the Human Trafficking Unit of the police.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
