Redacted Lives (2022) is an Irish 6-part documentary podcast produced by The Journal.

The podcast covers the mother and baby homes; the control over the population wielded by the Catholic Church; the mass grave at Tuam; The Commission of Investigation (2015-2020); searching for family; and a conversation with Roderic O’Gorman, current minister responsible for addressing “the issues caused by Ireland’s mother and baby home system”.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group.
