Fiction featuring Care Experience

Belgravia (novel)

Julian Fellowes

2016

Belgravia is the story of two families, the Trenchards who have made their money through business and the Bellasis’ who are an aristocratic British family. 26 years after the Trenchard's daughter, Sophia, dies giving birth to John Bellasis' son, the families unite and make a place for their grandson who has grown up in foster care.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
