American writer, film director & screenwriter, Antwone Fisher (b. 1959) was in orphanages, foster care and reform schools throughout his childhood. Antwone was born in prison and spent most of his childhood in foster care. In foster care with the Pickett family, he was physically, verbally & emotionally abused, and sexually abused by a baby sitter. After a stint in a reform school (because he didn't want to go back into foster care), Antwone joined the navy. This for him was a hugely positive experience.
