All the Light We Cannot See

2023

All the Light We Cannot See (2023) is an American drama series based on Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name.

The series tells the story of 2 teenagers whose paths cross in August 1944: a blind French girl, Marie-Laure LeBlanc (Aria Mia Loberti) and a German boy, Werner Pfennig (Louis Hofmann) who grew up in an orphanage and who was forced to join and fight for the Nazis.

The 2 youngsters long had in common listening to the radio, particularly scientific lectures by a reclusive WW1 veteran, Etienne Le Blanc (Hugh Laurie), the great-uncle of Marie-Laure

It was his skill with radio that brought Werner to the attention of the Nazis. Marie-Laure is now using radio to pass on information to the Allied forces.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group.
