Unsettled

2021

Another Canadian television series exploring the Sixties Scoop is Unsettled (2021).

In this series, Cheri Maracle stars as Rayna Keetch, a First Nations woman and Sixties Scoop survivor who relocates from Toronto to the Binesizhaabose First Nation Reserve in Northern Ontaria.

Rayna and her family are welcomed back into the community with a public ceremony.

They live with Rayna’s mother, Molly Wasnoday (Pam Matthew)

From the Unsettled website: What begins as a weekend out of town becomes a search for meaning and identity, a journey of healing and transformation for Rayna, her family and the divided community of Binesizhaabose First Nation.”

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
