2009

Unforgiven is a three-part British television drama series, written by Sally Wainwright and which follows Ruth Slater (Suranne Jones), a woman found guilty of murdering two police officers when she was a teenager. Upon release from prison, Ruth is determined to find her sister, who was adopted shortly after the incident. The series is set in the village of Boothtown, Halifax, Yorkshire in England. A film based on the series and starring Sandra Bullock as Ruth Slater was released in 2021.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
