Fiction featuring Care Experience

Too Much Lip

Melissa Lucashenko

2018

A dark and funny new novel from the multi-award-winning author of Mullumbimby. One of the principal characters in Too Much Lip is a kinship carer for 2 children. The children, who had previously lived with their grandmother, would have been taken by the "Childstealers" if Michael Salter, aka Black Superman, hadn't stepped in.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
