The Thief Lord (novel)

Cornelia Funke

2000

The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke follows orphaned brothers Prosper and Bo, who escape to Venice to avoid being separated by their aunt and find refuge with a gang of street children led by the mysterious Thief Lord, Scipio. When they are hired to steal a magical wing from an enchanted carousel that can transform people’s ages, they embark on an adventure that explores friendship, family, courage and the challenges of growing up.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
