Based on the novel 1850 novel by Charles Dickens, young David Copperfield goes from a happy childhood to being sent to work in a factory by his new stepfather. While working in the factory he 'boards' or is fostered by the Micawber family. David escapes his life of drudgery after his mother's death when he is taken in by his wealthy aunt.
