The Homes

J.B. Mylet

2022

Set in 1963, The Homes follows twelve-year-old Lesley, bright and determined, a resident of a vast Scottish orphanage, after one child is found murdered—then another. With the police unable to catch the killer, she takes the matter into her own hands, but in a place where unwanted children are easy victims, Lesley is in terrible danger.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
