Stupid crooks, crooked cops and honest John

Conversations

2021

Adoptee John Shobbrook was an agent with the Australian Federal Bureau of Narcotics in the 1970s. In this conversation he talks about his new book, Operation Jungle, which describes what happened when he caught drug trafficker John Edward Milligan. He found that Milligan was acting for Queensland former detective Glen Hallahan, and that the police and judiciary protected Hallahan while Shobbrook's career stalled.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group.
