Sister Kate's site to become home to Perth's first Aboriginal aged care facility

Sister Kate’s Children’s Cottage Home in Queen’s Park, Perth, Western Australia was in operation from 1934 and was referenced in the Bringing Them Home Report (1997) as an institution that housed stolen Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Children.
The Sister Kate’s site is now being used to develop Perth’s Aboriginal aged care facility. The facility will have 100 beds & anticipated to open in 2028.
Sue Gordon, the chair of the Aboriginal corporation heading the development, was taken from her family in 1947. From the age of 4, she spent 14 years at Sister Kate’s.
