Runaways follows July, recently returned from foster care to live with her struggling young mother, and Jamie, a lonely boy dealing with family upheaval and an uncaring stepfather. Both, feeling lost and unsupported, run away from home and face challenges such as poverty, danger, and isolation. As they navigate the world on their own, they discover inner strength, the importance of trust, and that even in hardship, hope remains. Themes include family struggles, addiction, survival, racial profiling, and growing up too soon.
