Poum and Alexandre: A Paris Memoir

Catherine de Saint Phalle

2016

Shortlisted for the 2017 Stella Prize, this is a memoir of living with deeply flawed parents. The mother of English born Australian writer, Catherine de Saint Phalle (b. 1956) was in kinship care for half her childhood. Catherine was in foster care for some months.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
