Nicky Campbell

Nicky Campbell was born Nicolas Andrew Argyl Campbell in 1961. He was born in Edinburgh and adopted when he was four days old. Now a radio and television presenter and a journalist, Nicky Campbell began his career writing jingles. In 2004, Nicky Campbell wrote Blued Eye Son about his experience of being adopted. He has won numerous awards, including being appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2015.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group.
