More to the story... Meeting your mum as an adult

Background Briefing (4a)

2024

In this update to the story of adoptee Anna (Background Briefing 3 August 2024), we hear from Anna after she goes to South Korea and meets her birth mother for the first time.

She finds out that her birth mother never wanted to give her up, she was pressured into this by her husband and her doctor.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
