Mole's Move (4+ years)

Lisa Cherry

2026

Mole's Move (2026) by Lisa Cherry uses the metaphor of foster care to tell the story of Mole who can’t live with her own family right now. This leaves her feeling wobbly and unsure as she begins a brave journey to find belonging with a new family. This gentle, hopeful story explores the challenges of settling into a different home and shows how children can find safety, acceptance and love again.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
