Luck

2022

Luck (2022) is an animated fantasy film centred around Sam Greenfield, an 18-year-old orphan who has been forced out from her foster home.

Sam’s life has been plagued with misery; she is the unluckiest person in the world.

One day, everything changes. Sam finds a penny and a cat who can talk. Sam follows the cat through a portal to the Land of Luck where various creatures – such as leprechauns – create luck for people on Earth.

After a series of adventures, Sam accepts that not all bad luck is bad, that she can find solutions to her problems.

Trauma warning: This archive contains material relating to care experience including references to abuse, neglect, sexual violence, and institutional harm.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
