Land of Sin

2026

Land of Sin or Synden (2026) is a Swedish crime drama directed by Peter Gronlund.

Krista Kosonen stars as Dani Anttila, a detective in Malmo, Sweden. One day she receives a phone call from the father of her former foster child Silas (Alexander Persson) to say he has gone missing. Ivar (Mats Mårtensson) doesn’t want the police involved but Dani & her new police partner, Malik (Mohammed Nour Oklah), travel to Bjare Peninsula to investigate.

Silas’ body is found in a river but forensics determine he was forcibly drowned in the ocean & his body moved to the river to give the appearance of a suicide.

As Dani & Malik investigate the crime, they talk to young people in a youth detention centre as Silas was there at some point. They also discover ongoing conflict between Ivar’s family & that of his brother, Elis (Peter Gantman) who wants the community to solve the murder & deal out retribution rather than have the case solved by the police.

Trauma warning: This archive contains material relating to care experience including references to abuse, neglect, sexual violence, and institutional harm.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
