Eighty Twenty: Mark Opitz Remembers

2022

Eighty Twenty: Mark Opitz was directed by Adele Chenowyth and explores the connection between Mark’s experiences in the Home for Boys and his later career.

Mark Opitz (1952) is an Australian record producer who spent some of his childhood in a Home for Boys in Queensland.

In this documentary, Mark makes connection between that (often) violent experience and his later award-winning career.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
