Detective Thingy Majiggy (7+ years)

Cecelia Ahern

2026

Detective Thingy Majiggy (2026) is Irish Novelist Cecelia Ahern first children's book. For readers aged 7+.

Ten-year-old Mia has just moved into a new foster home with Detective Lucy, and she has a special secret: she can talk to everyday objects, which can talk back to her. When a fire breaks out at her new school and Mia is blamed, she uses her unusual talent and the help of her object friends to uncover the truth, in a funny and heartwarming mystery about friendship, family and finding confidence.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
