Cross (2024) is an American crime thriller series based on the Cross novel series by James Paterson.

The series follows Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge) – who was raised in the kinship care of his grandmother in Washington, DC and who has a PhD in psychology – as he gets into the minds of killers.

The Cross novel series began in 1993 and is ongoing with more than 30 novels in the series to date. There have been 3 films based on the novels – Kiss the Girls (1997), Along Came a Spider (2001) and Alex Cross (2012).

Alex Cross’ best friend since childhood & on the job partner is John Sampson.

In the 2025 series of the Amazon Prime television series, John Sampson is shown as having been in foster care with Nana Mama. He meets his mother for the first time in that series & becomes aware that she never gave up her parental rights so that Nana Mama could adopt him.
