A Series of Unfortunate Events (TV series)

2017

A Series of Unfortunate Events (2017-2019) is an American adventure TV series based on the eponymous book series by Lemony Snicket (pen name of Daniel Handler).

Similar to the books, the TV series follows what happens with the Baudelaire children – Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes), Sunny (Presley Smith) – after their parents die.

A distant relative, Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris), wants to control the Baudelaire inheritance and he takes the children in. Throughout the series, the children are also sent to live with other relatives as well as to boarding school.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
