In 2022, Chinese Canadia Simi Liu published his autobiography, We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story.

Simi Liu recounts his journey from China, where he lived with his grandparents, to Canada to be with his parents at the age of 4.

Simu found his parents weren’t as gentle as his grandparents, & for their part, his parents found him difficult to relate to because of the cultural differences.

Simu Liu goes from playing the “pious child” to failing his first job as an accountant. From there, he carves out his own path as an actor.

In 2015, Liu was cast in his first main role as Jung Kim in the CBC tv series Kim’s Convenience. He continued to star in the series until it concluded in 2021.

Simu Liu has won a number of awards & was named the winner of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television Awards at the 11th Canadian Screen Awards.
