The Green Lady (2023) is a tribute to Sally Bayley’s grandmother, Edna May Turner, who helped to care for Sally and her large family and who was distantly related to the painter JMW Turner (1775-1851).

In this 3rd part of her autobiographical trilogy, Sally Bayley also tells the story of formative influences from social worker & suffragist Mary Neal to actor Margaret Rutherford (1892-1972) and poet Stevie Smith (1902-1971). These women became a source of inspiration for the young Sally Bayley, providing ideas about how to live a different life.
