Nobody's Girl

Virginia Giuffre

2025

American-Australian woman, Virginia Giuffre (1983-2025), has been the centre of much controversy for many years, including the release of her posthumously published memoir Nobody’s Girl.

Virginia Giuffre was an advocator for survivors of sex trafficking & one of the most prominent accusers of convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (1953-2019). In May 2009, she filed a lawsuit against Epstein, later settled. She sued convicted child sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell in 2015 & the case was settled in her favour 2 years later. In 2019 she described being sex trafficked to the UK’s Prince Andrew by Epstein and subsequently sued the prince in New York. The suit was settled out of court in February 2022 & although the amount has not been officially disclosed, it is estimated at £12 million.

Virginia Giuffre had a difficult childhood. She was sexually abused at the age of 7, including by her father. She was subsequently in & out of foster care, & living on the streets at age 14.

She later reconciled with her father & was living with him when he was working for Donald Trump as a maintenance manager. In 2000, Giuffre’s father helped her get a job at Mar-a-Lago & it was while she was working at Trump’s private club that she met Ghislaine Maxwell.

Trauma warning: This archive contains material relating to care experience including references to abuse, neglect, sexual violence, and institutional harm.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
