Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (Film)

2004

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004) is an American adventure film based on the 1st 3 novels of the book series A Series of Unfortunate Events (1999) by Daniel Handler under the pen name Lemony Snicket.

The film follows the adventures of the Baudelaire children – 14 year old Violet, 12 year old Klaus and 2 year old Sunny – who are orphaned when a fire destroys their home, killing their parents.

Initially, Mr Poe, who is the family banker, leaves the children in the care of Count Olaf. Then Mr Poe removes them from Olaf and takes them to live with Dr Montgomery Mongomery.

There are other homes …

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
