Kincora: Britain’s Shame (2025) by Chris Moore tells the story of Kincora Boy’s Home in Belfast, Northern Ireland, now infamous for a child sexual abuse scandal.
A former BBC journalist, Chris Moore has been investigating the story of Kincora for more than 40 years.
The home was set up in 1958 as a hostel for boys in state care of working age. It closed in 1980 following the scandal, which occurred in the 1970s & which involved the systemic abuse of boys and allegations of a cover-up by MI5.
The building on Upper Newtownards Road in Belfast was demolished in 2022.
During the course of his investigation, Moore spoke with survivors & MI5 whistle-blowers, examined secret documents, & concluded that not only were boys abused at Kincora but that they were forced into a wider paedophile ring which included Lord Louis Mountbatten.
