Chaplin: His Life & Art

David Robinson

1985

Film critic David Robinson’s 1985 book, Chaplin: His Life and Art, was written with access to the Chaplin’s archives.

Robinson talks about the loneliness that Chaplin experienced, and the many famous people who sought access to Chaplin including Picasso & Gandhi.

The book also covers the different worlds between which Chaplin moved, from Victorian London to the Hollywood of the McCarthy era.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
