Prey

2015

Prey is a British thriller series. In the second series (2015) Philip Glenister stars as prison officer David Murdoch who is manipulated into freeing a woman prisoner in order to save his pregnant daughter.

As events get out of control and Murdoch becomes complicit in crimes, it is revealed that the woman prisoner and her behind-the-scenes brother were in foster care.

The foster care backstory is presented as sufficient explanation for criminal behaviour.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
