Leigh Bardugo is a writer of Young Adult fiction. She grew up in Los Angeles, California with her grandparents, an isolation which informed her description of the orphanage in Shadow and Bone, the first book in her Grisha trilogy. Bardugo worked as a copyrighter and journalist before writing Shadow and Bone.
